Purple Clematis & Royal Catchfly are back in stock

Purple Clematis

I have a new Plant Availability list for August for you to download. And I have rescheduled a trip into Ottawa for Thursday, August 14th. (My last scheduled trip had to be cancelled because my dog was very ill and I could not leave him.)

Back in stock are two very popular species: purple clematis and royal catchfly. Different as they are in other respects, they both have somewhat brittle stems that can break off at the base if knocked about in transit. This is seldom a problem in the garden, unless the garden is subject to strong wind burst (or, I suppose, puppies), but it means I don’t like bringing them in to sales. An established clematis will come back from the roots, but young stock in a pot is often just a goner if broken. The clematis I have now are still quite small, 2 year old plants but it means they aren’t so fragile as taller plants. The royal catchfly is a sturdy first year rosette.

I grew a bunch of round-headed bush-clover for a meadow I am trying to create and have extras for sale. You won’t want this for your flower border but you might want a few for a meadow. For this reason, I am offering them in groups of three. They are priced at $15 for three.

I plan to bring pre-paid orders in to Ottawa on Thursday, August 14th, at the Fletcher Wildlife Garden parking lot, between 4:30 and 6:30 pm. Send your order by email to naturalgarden@xplornet.ca by evening of Tuesday, August 12, and I will get back to you with payment details.
