Last minute addition: Cardinal Flower

I have cardinal flower now available, to order for the Ottawa pick-up date or to add to an existing order.

I was really late potting up my cardinal flower seedlings this summer (heat, smoke, sick dog) and so they were not ready to go for the Natives & Clay sale. They are now well-rooted in their pots and ready to go. These are first-year cardinal flower in 4″ pots at $7 each. Get them into the ground now for stunning crimson flowers next August.

Do I need to introduce cardinal flower? The deeply saturated red is almost unbelievable in a wild flower, and the flower is the most attractive to hummingbirds. Cardinal flower will grow and flower in a wide variety of conditions but in order to develop a perennial colony, it needs a site that is soggy in the spring.

To order plants from the September list for pick-up at FWG in Ottawa on Tuesday, September 16th, please email me at naturalgarden@xplornet.ca
