Panicled Tick-trefoil

Botanical Name: Desmodium paniculatum

Height: to about 60 cm

Season of Bloom: Summer

Growing Conditions: Occurs in deciduous forests and forest edges. Dappled shade, some organic matter in soil, and good drainage.

Seed source: Eastern Ontario

Remarks: The flowers are small, as is often the case in wildflowers for shade, but the airy panicles are attractive, nevertheless. Like other Tick-trefoils, the sticky seeds can be a nuisance in dog’s fur. Best to site carefully, away from paths.

Similar species: Showy Tick-trefoil
