Botanical Name: Clematis virginiana

Height: woody vine to about 4 m

Season of bloom: July. Seed clusters are also showy in the fall

Growing Conditions: Sun to part shade; moist, sweet soil.

From Ottawa Valley or eastern Ontario sources: Yes

Seeds: Germination Code: C(90). Let seed experience winter, or 90 days of cold, moist stratification in the refrigerator. Probably the easiest of North American clematis to germinate.

Remarks: The silvery-grey wispy seeds are distinctive.
