Sale Specials, some big plants, and a couple of shrubs

Carolina Lupin

There will be some plants on sale at our exciting new event, Natives and Clay this coming week-end. Dwarf Arctic Iris has been lovely this relatively cool spring, but I have too much of it. Regularly $15 each, they will be offered at the sale event, 3 for the price of 2.

I am discontinuing many Asters, Goldenrods, and late summer yellow daisies – I can’t grow everything, so I am leaving some easy species to others. I am going to round up some of the last pots of these (Grey Goldenrod, Ontario Goldenrod, Stiff Goldenrod, and Cup Plant) and bring them to the sale, priced to go. They will be even more deeply discounted if you promise, in blood*, to bring the pots back.

I don’t carry many big shrubs, but from time to time I have some surplus pots of species I have grown for our own landscaping. I have a 3-year old Hop-tree, and a couple of 2-year old American Mountain Ash I will bring to the sale.

I will also be bringing some big pots of big plants, for instant gardening and instant screening: Swamp Rose Mallow (wild Ontario genotype), Tall Sunflower, and Maximillian’s Sunflower. there will be pots of Ironweed, Culver’s Root, American Spikenard, and Carolina Lupin (pictured), all big plants for major impact. Plus, well, all sorts of things….

Please join us in Lis Allison’s lovely woodland garden, this coming Saturday and Sunday, for an extraordinary combination of nature and craft: Pine Ridge Pottery Studio, 6114 Carp Road. (The studio is closer to the Galetta Road than to Carp. The driveway is not that obvious so best to slow down as you approach the street number. Lis will have a sign at the entrance.)

*Yes, I did spend the smoke days indoors reading trashy novels.

  1. Debbie Guthrie and I are hoping to go Sunday. If she cannot (her sister just died), I will come alone.

    I would like to order:

3x Dwarf Arctic Iris (the ones I bought last year just finished blooming and they were stunning); If you have enough, I will take 6 (some as gifts); 3x Carolina lupin 2x early saxifrage – if available.

Note: I have been keeping pots from other purchases which I happy to bring for you.

      1. Hi Trish – writing in case you have any prairie smoke in stock. I would love to add 3 to my order if you do. Cheers. See you Sunday.

P.S. Sadly my hubby put the pots I was saving for you into recycling and they are gone. Sorry.
