Are you interested in learning about ferns and other native plants for your shady garden? The Natives & Clay event at Pine Ridge Pottery Studio this week-end, June 21st and 22nd, is a fantastic opportunity to see plants growing in potter Lis Allison’s shaded garden or in her extensive woods, and also purchase plants for your own garden. In honour of International Fern Day (Saturday, June 21), Lis will conduct a guided walk through her woods.
I will be there with a selection of native wildflowers for both shade and sunny gardens and Lis has a impressive selection of her spore-grown ferns for sale. I am offering nursery-propagated, from spores, Rock Polypody (Polypodium virginianum), which is not a species you will often find for sale.
As well as plants, you can browse Lis’s beautiful, functional pottery, hand-painted, often with botanical motifs. There will be refreshments, too.
Pine Ridge Studio is located at 6114 Carp Road, north of Kinburn (past Carp). The studio in not visible from the road. There will be a sandwich board sign at the driveway entrance, which is otherwise easy to miss. From 10 am to 4 pm, Saturday and Sunday.
